Doctor of Naturopathy

Prerequisites

A Bachelor degree from this University or from an approved educational institution. Biology (may include Zoology, Anatomy, Physiology, Cell or Microbiology), General Chemistry (may include Inorganic Chemistry or others). The following courses are encouraged: College level Math (Algebra, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, or Statistics), Physics and Psychology. Prerequisites may be obtained through the University or one of our affiliate institutions. The Bachelor degree may be obtained concurrently with the Naturopathy program from the University of Natural Medicine.

The student must have been in good standing at the college or university attended and earned a minimum grade point average of 2.0 (on a 4 point scale) in all upper division work. If the student has attended a school that does not assign a 4 point grading scale, the student must submit an equivalent evaluation of his/her prior academic work.

Practical & Clinical

The practical training requirement may be fulfilled by attending and successfully completing one of our scheduled or approved trainings, seminars, or apprenticeship programs in Santa Fe, nationally or inter- nationally. The University will provide a listing and schedule of the many modalities and offerings on our website or directly through the University. In order to receive credit the student must receive a satisfactory pass or certificate of completion from the instructor. All practicals must be pre-approved by the student’s Dean. Practical: The requirements for these courses are:

1. Complete the practical offered at the Santa Fe campus or an affiliate.
2. Complete a certification course, practical, or seminar at a pre-approved location in an apprenticeship, or with a pre-approved instructor.
3. If the student finds it impossible to fulfill either of the above require- ments then they may apply for a special exception. This exception will require that the student submit documentation in the form of either case studies, a research paper and/or other representation of how they have integrated this modality or course of study into their practice.
4. The last alternative would be to complete a research study in the particular science or modality.
