Doctor of Philosophy in Natural Health Sciences (Ph.D.)
Prerequisites:
Bachelor Degree: (33-65 credits of curriculum and a dissertation are required for PhD beyond a Bachelors. This is dependent on incoming credit and advanced placement from the evaluation of the application submitted by prospective student.)
or
Master Degree: (18-35 credits of curriculum and a dissertation are required for PhD beyond a Masters. This is dependent on incoming credit and advanced placement from the evaluation of the application submitted by prospective student.)
or
Doctoral Degree: (Dissertation/clinical research may be all that is required if sufficient background in natural healing. Otherwise some individually designed curriculum may be required.) *
The Doctor of Philosophy program will require the student to complete as many credit hours as are needed for competency in the field depending on the student’s incoming credit and resulting advanced placement. In addition to the curriculum, the student will also be required to write and defend a dissertation of a minimum 25,000 words. The dissertation committee will be composed of three faculty members or may also include pre-approved doctoral members or others who are specialists in the field who are chosen from outside the University. The Dean and/or the Committee Chairperson will work with the doctoral candidate in the selection of this committee. The dissertation may be defended at one of our University sites and in some situations via phone or web conferencing if approved by the Committee Chairperson. Upon successful defense of the dissertation and approval of the final draft the student will be conferred the Doctor of Philosophy in their chosen field of Natural Health. Clinical research may be substituted for the dissertation but must also be defended before the committee.
