While Dr. Shahsavari is a "hands on" practitioner, he has also dedicated a large portion of his time to teaching. Over the past 30 years he has taught thousands of students in France, Germany, Greece, Japan, India, and the United States. He founded the Universal Radiance Temple, a non-profit public benefit organization whose purpose is to provide an open path of self-realization for all ages in every walk of life. His knowledge includes holistic nutrition, ayurveda, herbology, acupressure, yoga-psychotherapy, music therapy, and martial arts.

Vic Shayne, Ph.D.

Dr. Shayne is a writer, consultant and practitioner in the field of clinical nutrition, specializing in food science research and whole food nutrition. For more than ten years, Dr. Shayne has written extensively about the benefits of whole food concentrate supplementation, disease etiology relating to nutritional deficiencies, and the principles of health consciousness. Dr. Shayne earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Florida (1978) and holds doctorate degree from Westbrook University and from the University of Natural Medicine, Santa Fe, New Mexico. He is also certified as a transpersonal psychologist, iridologist, qi gong instructor and Chinese lymphatic massage therapist.

Dr. Mark Smith is the founder, Chairman of the Board, and Chancellor and Dean of the University of Natural Medicine, Santa Fe, New Mexico. He has lectured and practiced in health clinics throughout the United States, Canada, Central and South America, Asia, and New Zealand. He has studied and worked with Osteopaths, Homeopaths, Naturopaths and Medical Doctors in acquiring his expertise in the holistic health field and offers over 27 years experience as an alternative health care practitioner of Naturopathic Medicine. Dr. Smith has coordinated the outstanding curriculum and design of the programs in the University of Natural Medicine and is responsible for the recruitment of the faculty for these courses. He was also the creator, designer and Dean of the College of Natural Healing Arts and Sciences program.

Marcia Starck, B.A.

Marcia Starck has been working in the field of Astrology and Healing for over 30 years. She began research into Medical Astrology in 1971 when she found that so many of her clients had symptoms that could be relieved by preventive health care, if they understood their symptoms. Her studies in Nutrition took her to North American College in San Rafael, CA where she studied Anatomy and Physiology as well as Advanced Nutrition, writing a paper on the various nutritional approaches to Cancer. She studied Herbology through many retreats and seminars at the California School for Herbal Studies in Forestville, CA.

After her first book, Astrology-Key to Holistic Health, was published in 1982, she studied flower essences, crystals and gems, and aromas. In 1985 and 1986 she lived in the Sierra foothills in California, studying with herbalists, the Flower Essence Society in Nevada City, and working with crystals. At this time, she wrote Earth Mother Astrology (re-printed as Healing with Astrology - 1997). She also wrote The Complete Handbook of Natural Healing (re-printed as Handbook of Natural Therapies - 1998).

Throughout the 1970s and 1980s Marcia traveled extensively lecturing and doing workshops at various conferences in the United States, Canada, and Hawaii. She did consultations for many clients and began telephone consultations as a way to maintain her clients in other areas.

In 1987 another phase of work was begun - rituals and ceremonies for women at different stages of their lives. The first Crone Rite of Passage for women at Isis Oasis in Geyserville, California took place in October 1987, and the first Dark Goddess Retreat, also at Isis Oasis, in October 1988. Currently, she conducts ceremonies for equinoxes and solstices as well as summer retreats near Santa Fe, NM and in other cities in the US and world. In 1993 two books were published, Women's Medicine Ways-Cross Cultural Rites of Passage, and The Dark Goddess-Dancing with the Shadow. These were followed by The Dark God-Exploring the Male Shadow in 1995. Retreats for both women and men are also held in Santa Fe and other areas.

Since 1992, Ms. Starck has resided in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She does consultations by telephone and in person focusing not only on Medical Astrology, but also general Astrology with an emphasis on psychological and spiritual aspects as well as Astro-CartoGraphy (working with locations for both residence and travel), and Relationship Astrology. She also teaches classes on Medical Astrology and conducts seasonal rituals and summer retreats.

Ann Steele, Ph.D.

Dr. Ann Steele is a hospital-based Clinical Biomedical Scientist Practitioner of 20 years experience in the field of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. Her current professional focus includes all aspects of Anatomic Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, Image Analysis, Clinical Molecular Genetics, and Immunology as related to pediatric Bone Marrow and Heart Transplantation. Dr. Steele serves as a Scientific Referee by Invitation to the Journal of Human Molecular Reproduction for the peer-review process of a cutting edge international publication. She also serves as Board Member for the Credentialing and Certification of Laboratory Consultants within the United States. Dr. Steele is highly committed to naturopathically-based preventive medical modalities in establishing and maintaining health. Outside of the clinical and research laboratories, she brings her message of holistic health to young and old as a Certified Third Degree Black Belt Martial Artist and Instructor in Tae Kwon Do. Dr. Steele is now considered as one of the foremost stem cell researchers in the world and has lectured regarding her research internationally.

Dr. Helen Stewart is Founding President of the University for Metaphysical Studies and a professional intuitive. She holds an earned Ph.D. from Brandeis University and was a post-doctoral scholar at Harvard University. Helen has taught at the university level since 1965, including full-time teaching appointments at Wellesley College and Brandeis University. She was an academic-administrator from 1981 through 1995 in California State University System, and just prior to founding UMS she was Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost at Rider University in New Jersey. She has studied psychic development with Tamara Diaghilev, channeling with Sanaya Roman and Duane Packer, healing with Mietek Wirkus, macrobiotics with Michio Kushi, and various modalities with many others over the past 30 years.

Dr. Ellen Tart Jensen has been involved with natural healing and nutrition since 1979 and studying Iridology since 1983. Ellen spent four-years working side by side with Dr. Bernard Jensen, considered by many to be the Father of Iridology in the United States.Dr. Tart-Jensen spent 2 years in Switzerland where she studied natural healing methods at a health clinic. This diverse background has enabled her to work with many types of people and their problems.

Dr. Tart-Jensen also teaches classes in Iridology, nutrition, herbology and mind/body healing techniques throughout the U.S., Canada, Australia, Costa Rica and Columbia.

Dr. Jack Tips is the author of many books, desk references, and courses. His writings are often used as curriculum for naturopathic colleges, nutrition schools, and natural health courses (United States, Canada, New Zealand, Japan, Israel, Italy).

Dr. Tips is known as a "clinician's clinician" as he is the one many doctors and practitioners turn to for their personal health concerns. In 1966, he began studying the tools and principles of natural health including vitamins, minerals, amino acids, enzymes, and herbs. In 1971, he began more formal studies with many of the world's renowned natural health leaders.

Most notably was his work as protégé of master herbalist and biochemist, A. Stuart "Doc" Wheelwright, the founder of Sclerology and formulator of systemic herbal products. Through Dr. Tips' interest in Sclerology, the science of interpreting the red lines in the whites of the eyes for their reflexive health implications, he worked directly with Wheelwright for six years at the pinnacle and culmination of Wheelwright’s remarkable life.

His studies also took him from an undergraduate degree at the University of Texas to the Occidental Institute Research Foundation (Electro Acupuncture, Vega Test, Mora Therapy) in Vancouver, BC. He is nationally certified as a Clinical Nutritionist by the esteemed International & American Associations of Clinical Nutritionists (IAACN). Dr. Tips is licensed to practice clinical nutrition in New York. He is a member of the National Center for Homeopathy (Washington, D.C.) and the International Foundation for Homeopathy (Seattle).

Dr. Tips brings the message of dynamic, vital health to thousands of people through lectures, seminars, articles, radio, books, television and clinical practice. He holds a fellowship in the American Council of Applied Clinical Nutrition and is certified as a Clinical Nutritionist by the International and American Association of Clinical Nutritionists. Rostislav Tourtchaninov, M.D.

Dr. Turchaninov graduated from Odessa Medical School in the Ukraine in 1983 with honors and was selected for the Kiev Orthopedic Institute for Scientific Research. In 1985 he finished a two-year program at this institute with specialization in trauma surgery and posttraumatic rehabilitation under the supervision of academician, K.S. Ternovoy, M.D. At the same time Dr. Turchaninov began his scientific dissertation "Surgical and Rehabilitation Treatment of Patients with Bone Defects". He obtained his scientific degree in 1989. In 1990 Dr. Turchaninov graduated from the chiropractic and medical massage program designed for medical doctors in the Kiev Orthopedic Institute. He is the author of 20 scientific articles and two patents in the Ukraine. The first Volume of the "Medical Massage" textbook was published in the United States in 1998. In the 2nd Volume he will discuss the treatment of inner organ disorders using the medical massage.

Dr. Wagner is a noted clinical nutritionist, doctor of natural medicine, cosmetic formulator, researcher, author, dean, professor, lecturer, certified colon hydrotherapist, certified phlebotomy technician, and certified DPA technician and is currently serving as the Dean of the. Internal Wellness Program at the University of Natural Medicine in Santa Fe, New Mexico, where he also is a member of the Scientific Advisory Board. Lawrence J. Weitz, Ph.D., L.M.T., N.D.

Dr. Weitz is a licensed health service provider (clinical psychologist) and licensed massage therapist, completing his doctorate in natural medicine at the University of Natural Medicine, Santa Fe, New Mexico. He received his Ph.D. from State University of New York at Albany. He worked as the director of counseling psychology at George Peabody College of Vanderbilt University. He also was the chief psychologist at special Needs Facility, a prison located in Nashville, Tennessee. Presently he works as the clinical director of the Natural Health Clinic, a program located in Cumenins Station, Suite 212. This program, staffed by physicians, psychologists, nurses, massage and physical therapists, is geared to assist people to prevent disease, reduce pain and eliminate suffering. The staff use conventional and natural therapies that work best for each patient. Dr. Weitz also lectures throughout the US on alternative medicine topics and has a private practice in mind body psychology. He uses massage and body work to work with pain management and the full range of psychological problems.

Lawrence Wilson, M.D.

Shauna Young is the owner and operator of the Assertive Wellness Center of Durango, CO, which first opened its doors in 2001. Since its humble beginnings, her center has now had the distinct pleasure of seeing several thousand clients who have had the confidence to travel from nearly every U.S. State and even several foreign countries, all solely on the basis of personal referrals made by other clients who have been pleased with the consultation, products and help.

Shauna obtained her initial education and degree as a Naturopath under a regimented correspondence curriculum through the Herbal Healer Academy, a school duly certified by the American Naturopathic Medical Association. Since 2001, she has been practicing as a Traditional Naturopath within the disciplines of her continuing certifications with both the Natural Therapies Certification Board and the American Naturopathic Certification Board.

In 2005, after four years of clinical observations and experience, Shauna began specific research regarding her theorized effects of excess and stored manganese on the human neurological and sensory input systems and its possible symptomatic connections to Autism and other neurological, learning and behavioral disorders in both children and adults. The success of this clinical research, originally referred to as “The Popeye Protocol” and currently as the “Spectrum BalanceTM Protocol”, led to her receiving speaking engagements and Distinguished Awards of Excellence in both May of 2006 and May of 2007 from the internationally-recognized Global Foundation of Integrative Medicine.

Shauna holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Natural Sciences and based on the merits of her research, theories and doctoral thesis on Manganism, was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy in Natural Sciences from the University of Natural Medicine in Santa Fe, New Mexico. In February of 2008 she was also knighted into the international Sovereign Medical Order of the Knights Hospitaller in recognition of the unique impact of her work with Autism and for positively advancing the field of natural medicine in general. The mission of the Knights Hospitaller is to promote higher levels of international health and to establish, equip, staff and maintain humanitarian and medical treatment centers worldwide.

She also serves as the Chief Medical Advisor for the NoHarm Foundation; a Colorado not-for-profit organization formed with the sincere goal of releasing this vastly important information with the intent of ushering in a new paradigm in research and provide real help for countless suffering children and adults, which will also serve as a lighting rod issue to create permanent positive change in how the importance of natural medicine is perceived by the public and peer medical communities.

Dr. Zhao began his teaching career in 1975 in China, and since then has taught in Sweden and in the United States. He taught at the International Institute of Chinese Medicine in Santa Fe, New Mexico in Chinese Herbology, Traditional Chinese Medicine Theory and Acupuncture for six years. Dr. Zhao is an International lecturer on Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture and has authored Traditional Chinese Medicine books in Chinese and the "Tao of Medicine", soon to be published in English. When he is not teaching, traveling the orient, or practicing Acupuncture in his busy clinic in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Dr. Zhao has developed his own herbal remedies.

James H. Zhou, Ph.D.

Dr. Zhou was trained by Chinese Taoists in herbal medicine, Qi Gong, Tai Qi, Kung Fu, acupuncture, and acupressure. He holds a Ph.D. in genetics and biochemistry, was a faculty member in pharmacology at the Yale University School of Medicine, and the founder of Wallingford, Connecticut-based HerbaMedicine. Dr. Zhou serves as a board member of the University of Natural Medicine, Santa Fe, New Mexico, and teaches herbal pharmacognosy.

Helmut Ziehe, Dippl. Ing. Arch.

The Institute for Bau-biologie™ and Ecology's Founder and Past-President is Helmut Ziehe, an architect who received his Dipl. Ing. degree from the Technical University of Berlin in 1964, and a post graduate degree in Tropical Architecture at the AA School of Architecture in London. He has worked and lived in a number of European countries, including Sweden, Denmark, Greece, and Great Britain, as well as in Central America and North Africa, before making his home in Clearwater, Florida.

His professional experience, gained both as an employee and as the owner of his own architectural firm, includes the planning of hospitals, hotels, and housing units for small communities, as well as small scale industrial developments. He has been involved with Bau-biologie since 1980, first as a student of Professor Anton Schneider in Germany, and later as the translator of the course into English, and founder of the International Institute for Bau-biologie and Ecology in England in 1984 and in the U.S.A. in 1987.

Mr. Ziehe is the President and Chairman of the Board of the International Institute for Bau-biologie and Ecology, Inc., a non-profit organization in Clearwater, Florida. The purpose of the Institute is to inform people about the health hazards that exist in their homes and workplaces, and to train people to detect such hazards and propose solutions to overcome them. The Institute is also engaged in developing new design concepts while stimulating research into non-toxic or low toxic building materials, and systems. Mr. Ziehe has worked and lived in many countries in Europe, North Africa and Central America, and now resides in the United States. He has professional experience in planning hospitals, hotels, housing units for small communities, and small scale industrial development, and acquired his managerial skills by studying business administration and by running his own architectural firm. Bau-biologie has been his focus for the past two decades during which he translated from German to English the Correspondence Course of Professor Anton Schneider. Mr. Ziehe's intention is that the Institute have an ever-increasing impact on our lives by building methods that promote health and minimize adverse reactions in people and the environment.
