Ralph J. Luciani, D.O., M.S., Ph.D, M.D.(H)
Seton Hall University, College of Osteopathic Medicine, Kansas City, Wilford Hall, U.S. Air Force Medical Center
From his personal and professional experience, Dr. Ralph J. Luciani believes that because of the processed food most people eat, the depletion of soil nutrients, and the added pesticides and pollutants in our daily environment compared to fifty years ago, our bodies are asked to continually perform while under an increased toxic load. This puts great stress on our metabolic cycle and immune system, requiring nutritional supplementation over and above what nutritionists call a "well balanced diet". Basic nutritional supplementation for everyone, including "healthy" or non-diseased individuals, should consist of anti-oxidants to ward off the adverse effect of increased pollutants in food and the air we breath; and basic broad-based vitamin, mineral supplementation to ensure we are getting what our food fails to give us. He developed Millennium Health Resources products to address the various therapeutic needs, including basic daily requirements.
Dr. Ralph Luciani attended medical school at the College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kansas City, Missouri, and graduated Valedictorian in 1969. He did his Internship in Internal Medicine at Wilford Hall, U.S. Air Force Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. In 1972, he left the Air Force and entered private family practice in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He became Board Certified in Family Practice in 1976. In 1973 and 1974, he studied Oriental Medicine both here and in the Orient and received a Ph.D. in Medical Acupuncture in 1974 for his research in pain and functional disorders.
He re-entered the Air Force in 1980 as an Aeromedical Research Physician and for the next several years was the Air Force Medical Liaison for the NASA Space Shuttle Program. While in the Air Force, he received an M.S. degree in Aerospace Medicine, completed his residency requirements for the Board of Preventive Medicine and became Board Certified in 1983. In 1987, he was the first to obtain clearance from the Air Force Surgeon General to practice acupuncture in an Air Force hospital. At that time, he also helped organize a pain and stress program in the Air Force Medical Center at Wright Patterson AFB, Ohio. As the only Department of Defense physician trained and certified by NASA for the Mission Control Room, Dr. Luciani was one of two consulting physicians directing the Lovelace Foundation design for a health maintenance facility for the coming NASA International Space Station. He left the Air Force for the active reserves in 1988 to begin his own pain and stress practice in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and is now the founder and Medical Director of the Albuquerque Clinic for Pain, Stress and Health Rehabilitation.
In 1988, he received training in Nutritional Medicine by the American College for Advancement in Medicine and passed the Diplomate candidacy examination. In 1991, he then became board certified by the American Board of Chelation Therapy. He also studied Homeopathic Medicine with the National Center for Homeopathy, in Washington DC in 1988. He received personal training in Homotoxicology in 1989 and 1990. In 1989, he became a certified specialist in pain management as a Diplomate of the American Academy of Pain Management. He is also a member of the American Academy of Environmental Medicine and practices environmental immunotherapy. Dr. Luciani retired from the Air Force Reserves as a Brigadier General in the Medical Corps in 1997, where he was the mobilization assistant to the Commander, Human Systems Center, Brooks AFB, Texas. While active in the reserves, he was called up in 1992 to serve in Operation Desert Storm and spent three months in the United Kingdom as Commander of an Aeromedical Staging Facility.
Dr. Luciani has authored numerous research publications and has lectured extensively for several universities. He has been a guest on numerous radio talk shows and been featured on several news broadcasts for his pioneering work in Preventive Medicine and Chronic Pain Management. He holds faculty positions as Associate Clinical Professor at Wright State University School of Medicine and as Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine.
