Master of Arts in Body/Mind Integrative Studies, M.A
The College of Body/Mind/Consciousnes Integrative Studies, within the larger University of Natural Medicine is dedicated to helping students develop a deep working understanding of the growing field of Body/Mind Integrative Studies. This vital field, with new and exciting research emerging daily, has finally found a way into the forefront of mainstream medicine and psychology, and lies at the intersection of the two.
This program has been developed so as to give the student the basic underpinnings of this field … from neurobiology to the deeper workings of the psyche and ways of bridging the two. The information presented in this course of study is vital to developing both the understanding and working knowledge of how to access and listen to the language of the deeper neuro-conscious, and create healing states that bridge both body and mind.
This program is designed with working professionals in the field (doctors, physicians assistants, nurse-practitioners, counselors, psychotherapists, psychologists, psychiatrists, wellness coaches, instructors in various wellness-oriented fields (i.e. yoga, meditation, nutrition, etc.), naturopaths, hypnotherapists, and body-workers in all modalities. As such, this program augments and enhances the experience and understanding the particular professional already has, providing useful tools and skills to help address issues that are not responding to traditional approaches.
This program also has provided the basis of training and understanding for those wishing to pursue a new career in health care, or related fields, and has served as a launching pad for many, as such proving to be an invaluable resource and course of study.
The Master of Arts in Body/Mind Integrative Studies program explores the connection between body, mind, psyche, and neurology. Body-Mind Integrative studies is a holonomic perspective stressing the living dynamic between all aspects of self, and the ways in which these contribute to overall health and well-being. Body-Mind Integrative studies comprises a framework through which human functioning can be viewed as whole health and healing in particular. Neither medicine nor bodywork, this field instead provides an integrative view of the self and a variety of tolls and approaches for effecting deep-level healing and psycho-physical change.
Graduates from the Masters of Arts Program in Body/Mind Integrative Studies will be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of the ways in which body and mind (and deeper psyche) interface and influence each other, affecting our everyday health, wellbeing and the ways in which we live and experience our life. Graduates will understand the inter-relationships between our perceptions and our experience, our emotions and our stories, and the underlying role neurobiology places in all of this. Most importantly, graduates from this program will be able to apply this understanding to help others unravel the roots contributing to holding patterns in the body, chronic illness and pain, psycho-emotional and behavioral dysfunction, relational issues, and so on, in ways that the medical field and field of psychology are unable to do. This will enable practitioners from a wide range of varied fields to become more effective in their work and to self-empower people in their own healing process.
