Bachelor of Science Natural HealthPrerequisites: 35 CreditsCollege level courses and/or equivalent life and work experience which includes: Communications (9 credit hours), Mathematics (3), Laboratory Science (8), Social/Behavioral Sciences (6-9), Humanities & Fine Arts (6-9)*. Some of these courses are available through the University. The student must have been in good standing at the previous college or university attended and earned a minimum grade point average of 2.0 (on a 4 point scale) in all upper division work. If the student has attended a school that does not assign a 4 point grading scale, the student must submit an equivalent evaluation of his/her prior academic work. *Deficiencies in prerequisite preparation may be met as outlined in Special Admissions Provision. Core Curriculum: 43 Credits
Concentration in Clinical Nutrition
The concentration in Botanical Medicine degree program offers a comprehensive study of herbology and natural healing teachings. The student will learn herb identification, selection, harvesting, horticulture, usage, herbal formulation and preparation. The course of study includes the evolution, teaching, advancement of natural healing, dynamics of the human body, taxonomy and description of herbs, constituents of materia medica, and applications for Master Herbalists. You will learn preventive medicine through the study of the basic principles of natural healing: cause of disease, nutrition, elimination therapies, and herbal cleansing for the entire system including training in the proper application of wholesome herbs and simple therapies. The concentration in Botanical Medicine is a combination program that will provide the student with a Bachelor in Natural Health Sciences (B.S.) degree and a Master Herbalist (M.H.) certification. Required: 32 Credits (minimum) Two different options are offered. Contact the University for more information on each: The Australasian College of Herbal Studies’ Master Herbalist program is 30 credit hours. The School of Natural Healing’s Master Herbalist program is 28 credit hours + optional practicum.
Master of Science Natural HealthPrerequisites The student must have been in good standing at the college or university attended and earned a minimum grade point average of 2.0 (on a 4 point scale) in all upper division work. If the student has attended a school that does not assign a 4 point grading scale, the student must submit an equivalent evaluation of his/her prior academic work. *Each Curriculum is Designed on an Individual Basis Depending Upon Concentration. Doctor of Philosophy Natural HealthPrerequisitesA Bachelor (90 credit minimum required beyond a Bachelor) or Master degree (60 credit minimum beyond a Master) from this University or from an approved educational institution. The student must have been in good standing at the college or university attended and earned a minimum grade point average of 2.5 (on a 4 point scale) in all upper division work. If the student has attended a school that does not assign a 4 point grading scale, the student must submit an equivalent evaluation of his/her prior academic work. *Each Curriculum is Designed on an Individual Basis Depending Upon Concentration. Doctor of Natural MedicinePrerequisitesA Bachelor degree from this University or from an approved educational institution. This may be obtained either through the University or an approved institution. Prerequisites include: Biology (may include Zoology, Anatomy, Physiology, Cell or Microbiology), General Chemistry (may include Inorganic Chemistry). The following courses are encouraged: Organic Chemistry, college level Math courses (Algebra, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, or Statistics), and Psychology. Deficiencies in prerequisite preparation can be remedied by specified additional preparation as outlined in Special Admissions Provision. The student must have been in good standing at the previous college or university attended and earned a minimum grade point average of 2.0 (on a 4 point scale) in all upper division work. Practical & Clinical
The practical training requirement may be fulfilled by attending and successfully completing one of our scheduled or approved trainings, seminars, or apprenticeship programs in Santa Fe, nationally or inter- nationally. The University will provide a listing and schedule of the many modalities and offerings on our website or directly through the University. In order to receive credit the student must receive a satisfactory pass or certificate of completion from the instructor. All practicals must be pre-approved by the studentís Dean.
Practical: The requirements for these courses are:
1. Complete the practical offered at the Santa Fe campus or an affiliate.
2. Complete a certification course, practical, or seminar at a pre-approved location in an apprenticeship, or with an instructor.
All courses must be documented in order to receive credit.
