Bachelor of Natural Health Sciences, B.S.

The Bachelor of Natural Health Sciences degree is available in the following concentrations: Clinical Nutrition, Botanical Medicine and individualized programs. An associate’s degree from an accepted educational institution, or college level course and/or life and work experience equivalent to a minimum of 35 credit hours of college level general education is a prerequisite for this program. Some of these credits may be obtained from the University of Natural Medicine and our affiliate schools. A minimum of 85 credit hours is required for the completion of this degree which includes 40 credits of core studies, 3 credits in practical and research case studies, 32 credits in the student’s chosen concentration, and 10 credits of thesis or electives. A minimum of 15 total credit hours is required for those students awarded advanced placement and with prior experience in the field.

Master of Natural Health Sciences, M.S.

The Master of Natural Health Sciences degree is individually designed for each student with the guidance of the Dean. Concentrations include: Clinical Nutrition, Botanical Medicine, Homeopathy, Body/Mind Therapies, Ayurveda, Iridology/Sclerology and individualized programs. Prerequisites include: a bachelor’s degree or equivalent. A minimum of 15-45 credit hours is required for the completion of this degree, 15 credits of which may be an optional thesis monitored by a professional mentor. The student may choose his/her own professional mentor subject to the approval of the Dean

Master of Arts in Body/Mind Integrative Studies, M.A.

The Master of Arts in Body/Mind Integrative Studies may be taken as structured or may be individually designed in corporating courses from any of the University’s departments with prior approval of the Dean. Prerequisites include a bachelor’s degree or the equivalent. A minimum of 22-44 total core credit hours - plus 5 practical credit hours and a 10 credit hour thesis - are required for the completion of this degree. The student may choose his or her own professional mentor subject to the approval of the Dean.

The Doctor of Philosophy in Natural Health Sciences degree is individually designed for each student with the guidance of the Dean. Concentrations include: Clinical Nutrition, Botanical Medicine, Homeopathy, Body/Mind Therapies, Ayurveda, Iridology/Sclerology and individualized programs. Prerequisites include: a bachelor’s or master’s degree. The student will be required to complete a minimum of 60 credits beyond a master’s degree and 90 credits beyond a bachelor’s degree. That will include a dissertation of 25 credits which must be defended and will be monitored by the Dissertation Committee. The student will be assisted in choosing his/her own committee subject to the approval of the Dean.

Doctor of Natural Medicine, D.N.M.

The Doctor of Natural Medicine degree is designed for the student seeking a predominantly independent study program. A Doctor of Natural Medicine will train the student in the theory and practice of Natural and Integrated Medicine. The Natural Medicine course of study is composed of a minimum of 210 credit hours. This includes a core curriculum of 135 credit hours, specialization/electives, practicals and/or research/case studies of 35 credit hours, and clinical externship of 40 credit hours. A portion of the practical and residential requirements may be fulfilled through pre-approved seminars, practicals and relevant residential trainings given by the faculty at any of the affiliate centers or with individual mentors approved by the Dean.

Doctor Of Naturopathy, N.D.

The Doctor of Naturopathy program is a unique program taught through a multi-disciplinary educational approach. Prerequisites are outlined in the program of study. Our standardized Naturopathic course of study is composed of 274 credit hours (4110 actual hours which exceeds the 4100 hours established for standardized Naturopathy). This includes a core curriculum of 135 credit hours, electives or specialization, practical and/or research/case studies of 59 credit hours, and clinical training of 80 credit hours. All practical and residential requirements given by the faculty at any of our worldwide affiliate centers or with individual mentors in various locations must be pre-approved by the Dean. The curriculum is designed to integrate independent, practical, clinical and residential study to complete an accelerated three to four year program.

Doctor Of Naturopathy, N.D. & Doctor of Natural Medicine, D.N.M. (for Health Professionals)

The Doctor of Naturopathy or Natural Medicine degree program for health professionals is designed for practitioners in the health care field. The following professions are considered a prerequisite: M.D., D.O., D.C., D.O.M./L.Ac., D.HOM., D.V.M., P.A., C.N.P., Ph.D. and other qualified professions. The curriculum is individualized and is composed of a minimum of 120 credits of independent study course work and 24 credits of seminars, practical and clinical training. The student has the option to complete the practical/clinical requirements at an affiliate clinic or with an approved Naturopathic or Holistic Practitioner.
